PARK 7, also known as DJ-1 is a highly conserved cytoplasmatic protein and acts as a positive regulator of androgen receptor-dependent transcription. The expression of PARK 7 is induced by growth signals, and it is translocated from the cytoplasm to nucleus during S-phase of the cell cycle. PARK 7 also may function as redox-sensitive chaperone and as sensor for oxidative stress.
