Cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (Cdk4) is a 34 kDa catalytic subunit of the protein kinase complex and belongs to the Ser\/Thr protein kinase family. Cdk4 forms a complex with D-type cyclins and may regulate cell growth during G1 phase of the cell cycle. Cdk4 also associates with Cdk inhibitor p16 that down-regulates Cdk4 activity.
