Its genoma comprises a bisegmented double-stranded RNA, the segment B encodes VP1 and the segment A yields a polyprotein, pVP2-VP4-VP3 and a small protein (VP5) dispensable for viral replication. The polyprotein is autocatalytically cleaved by the endoprotease VP4 to release the structural proteins pVP2 and VP3.
