Aeromonas caviae is a Gram negative and facultative anaerobic bacterium that occurs ubiquitously in aquatic environments. It can infect a wide range of fish species and it is usually considered secondary or opportunistic bacterium due to affect fish are usually stressed, have a weakened immune system or have skin lesions.
