GLRaV-3 belongs to the genus Ampelovirus of the family Closteroviridae and its genome is composed by a single-stranded positive-sense RNA with a 35-39 kDa coat protein. GLRaV-3 virions have a flexuous filamentous morphology, it is phloem-limited and transmitted by several species of mealybugs.
