DescriptionHuman Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor is a mitogen that stimulates cell growth for such cells as fibroblasts, endothelial cells, myoblasts, glial cells and smooth muscle cells. Basic FGF is composed of 146 amino acid residues (pro 1 to ser 146), and is 55% homologous with acidic FGF, including two conserved cysteine residues. Human basic FGF is produced by genetically engineered yeast, and purified by heparin-Sepharose affinity chromatography.
IsotypeN/A
Mol Weight17.5 KDa
PurityOver 95% pure by N-terminal amino acid sequencing, amino acid composition, HPLC analysis, and SDS gel electrophoresis.
StorageStore at +4°C. Reconstitution is best in water or buffer near neutral pH, since it is unstable in acidic solutions. After reconstitution, storage in aliquots at -80°C is recommended.
StabilitySeveral months, lyophilized or in solution, at pH 6-7 and +4°C.
Biological ActivityThe mitogenic activity of human basic FGF is identical to natural bovine basic FGF, as measured by stimulation of 3H-thymidine incorporation into human foreskin fibroblast cells.
FormulationLyophilized powder
